POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for coordinating the performance of the mammographic program under the direction of the Imaging Director in conjunction with the Radiologist Medical Director. This includes shepherding patients through the full process of breast imaging and follow up including a full range of mammographic and osteoporosis exams in a safe and prudent manner for the specific purpose of producing the highest quality diagnostic exam and environment for the customer. The development and implementation of a sustained Samaritan Breast Health Program is of prime concern. The Coordinator will oversee the education of technologists in mammography skills and techniques and ensure compliance with Federal Regulations and Accreditation in Mammography in conjunction with the Imaging Director and Radiologist Medical Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collaborates with Imaging Director in implementation of hospital and department policies and procedures. Assists in development and review of a sustained Samaritan Breast Health Program.
Serves as the Mammography educational resource person for physicians and patients; provides on-going education for mammography technologists.
Directs patients through the breast health imaging process in the region.
Assures MQSA Certification for technologists and department; assist the Imaging Director in statistical reporting.
Collaborates with Radiologist Medical Director on the clinical aspects of the mammography program including staff competency.
Works with Imaging Director in setting and adjusting professionals’ work schedules to provide our patients with the best imaging experiencepossible; assists in performance evaluations.
Reviews pathology, surgical and delivery reports, as appropriate, to follow patients progress and provide a means of reviewing the accuracy of the diagnostic exam.
Ensures maintenance of all QC and QI requirements to meet ACR/FDA certification standards, which includes the MQSA Bi-Rad Program
Assists in employee orientation and training.
Must be able to operate and manipulate diagnostic equipment, computers, peripheral equipment, and input data; knowledge of service agreements on mammography and osteoporosis equipment.
11. Compiles stats, maintain files, logs, patient charts, research information, and works with Admitting Department on scheduling of appointments.
12. Performs low dose x-ray mammography procedures and osteoporosis exams.
Critiques quality of completed studies with Radiologist Medical Director and evaluate if additional images are needed.
Obtains and documents significant history from patient. Handles confidential information.
15. Provides proper radiation protection for patient, other employees, and self in accordance with established safety standards.
Utilizes proper sterile technique.
Patient handling: Transports, transfers, and positions patients in a manner that is safe for the patient. Confirms that patient and exam preparations are appropriate. Evaluates patient’s mental and physical condition in order to avoid hazardous situations and does not leave alone, if their safety is questioned. Monitors patient needs.
Performs necessary paperwork and archiving.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values.
Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The professional in the position reports to the Imaging Director. This position works closely with the Imaging team and other departments in order to provide complete patient care. This position assists in the development and review of a sustained Samaritan Breast Health Program.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
· Education:
a. Graduated from an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) approved program or the equivalent alternate training described under WAC 246-926-110 and RCW 18.84 from the State of Washington Department of Health.
· Experience:
a. Prefer three years’ experience in the mammography field.
· Certification:
a. Registered – ARRT in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M) required.
b. Possess certification in mammography per FDA MQSA.
c. CPR certification – Healthcare Provider (HCP) level required within three (3) months of hire.
· Skills/Competencies:
a. Possess strong leadership, communication and problem solving skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Occasional heavy lifting (lift/carry up to 50 lbs.).
Frequent/prolonged standing/walking.
Lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients.
Pushes, pulls, or moves heavy equipment.
Manual dexterity and mobility.
6. Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, crouching.
Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
