Job Summary - MRI Technologist - Location/Facility: - 2001 Vail Ave, Charlotte, NC 28207 - 244 licensed beds (ED: 16, ICU: ~20, Progressive: ~40) - Facility provides X-Ray, CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine; TJC Stroke accredited - Department Info: - Inpatient census typically at full capacity (224) - Average 23 MRI studies/day (higher on weekdays) - Accepts first-time travelers - Minimum 1 year experience required - Patient Population: - ED, Inpatient, Observation, and Outpatient patients - High volume of medical device patients - Some cases require anesthesia - No cardiac imaging - Licenses/Certifications Required: - ARRT(R) or NMTCB - ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT - BLS - NC licensure not required - Key Responsibilities: - Verify and review imaging orders; clarify discrepancies with radiologist or provider - Use two patient identifiers and explain procedures to patients; document accordingly - Obtain and review patient medical histories and EMRs - Oversee exams from start to result dictation - Prepare/administer IV contrast per protocols - Assess image quality and consult radiologist as needed - Perform basic patient care; notify nursing of condition changes; initiate life support if needed - Adhere to infection control, bloodborne pathogen, and radiation safety policies - Operate radiology computer systems; document contrast administration - Assist other medical staff (e.g., anesthesia) during MRI scans - Maintain knowledge of MRI safety for staff and patients - Support & Tools: - Guest services/transport for patients - Tech assistant on overnight shifts - Technology: EMR (Epic), RIS (Epic Radiant), PACS (Philips iSite), MRI: GE 1.5 SIGNA Artist 450W - Other Details: - No floating required - Orientation: 1 day admin + 2 days to 1 week department-specific - Scheduled F/S/S 7p-7a; weekend rotation; no call - Expected to work 75% of holidays - Scrub color: Black - Free surface and deck parking --- Note: Permanent address must be 50+ miles from the facility.
