Job Summary (RN - Emergency Department) - Facility Overview: - 637 licensed beds - Level 1 Trauma Center and Teaching Hospital - Chest Pain and Stroke Center - Unit Details: - 61+ beds (including surge beds) - Accepts first-time travelers - Minimum 2 years ED RN experience required - Patient Population: - Common diagnoses: Chest pain, stroke, diabetes, abdominal pain, MVCs, HTN, stabbings, mental health - Staffing Ratios: - RN: 1:4 (zone-dependent) - LPN: 1:4 - CNA/Tech support: 4-6 per shift - Required Licenses/Certifications: - BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS - Basic Cardiac Rhythm (must pass EKG test) - Emergency nursing national certification preferred - Skills/Competencies: - Level 1 Trauma ED nursing - Experience with multiple drips (Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, Levophed) - Departmental Support: - CNA assistance for patient care - Unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, PICC team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, intensivist - Central telemetry monitoring in ER - Technology/Equipment: - EMR: EPIC (6 months experience required) - Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, Phillips monitors - Unit-specific equipment: VS3, Nova Glucose, portable vital signs, PCA, bladder scanner, Glucommander, suction, rapid infuser - Floating: - May float within ER (6 months experience required) - Possible floating to Baldwin location ER - Orientation: - 1 day facility orientation + educational modules - 2 days departmental orientation - Scheduling: - 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A) - 5-6 weekend shifts/12 in 6 weeks - No on-call - Holiday rotation required - RTO with manager approval - Other Information: - Scrub color: Navy (RN), Ceil Blue (LPN) - Free parking available - Team-oriented, busy unit culture
